Other Styles Taught
I'm happy to teach classical guitar too, but I've found (as have my students!) that classical guitar is easier to learn if you have developed knowledge of chord and scale systems as well as having developed finger-picking techniques to a reasonable degree first : ie you have an 'educated thumb'. We can work on that as we're learning other things before moving on to Bach & Beethoven et al.
Lesson Details
Lessons are taught at my home and cost £15 per hour. I teach from my own
fully comprehensive module (includes CD), which costs £20, as well as teaching from the internationally recognized RGT exam modules. RGT graded exams are accredited by the Qualifications and Curriculum Authority, and UCAS points are available for grades 6 - 8. I can supply guitars, amplifiers & effects on request at no extra charge, as well as a 12 track
recording facility to help with lessons.
And Finally..........
The guitar is (relatively!) pretty easy to play but very difficult to play well - you'll only get out what you put in. If you just want to learn to strum your way through songs for your own enjoyment, it shouldn't take too long to learn. But if you want to get to the next level, you'll have to apply yourself in the correct manner. Unfortunately, I don't have a magic wand - I can only do so much ; the rest is down to you. After over thirty years, my own playing is still a 'work in progress' - I guess I'll just have to keep practicing. I won't be giving up the day job just yet. Oh, wait........this IS the day job!
Happy plonking,
Scott Hendrie
